Just a lil’ bit of info

I’ve tried to re-vamp this blog for the umpteenth time, but I was always too lazy to follow through. But I think this time, I’m gonna do it. I have a lot to share and a ton of stuff to talk about so just be patient. This blog’s content theme is still a work in progress!

MAY 2013 

I recently decided to revamp this blog and start over.  New layout, new approach, new everything.  My life is much different now than it was when I first started this blog and I hope to reflect those changes in positive, optimistic ways.  Below is what I wrote when I first began this blog.  I still like all of those things I listed, I just have different priorities now.  Hope you all stick around for my journey because I can’t wait to see how this turns out!

I am many things…creative, passionate, stubborn, funny and loving.  But right now I am learning to be a caregiver to my mom who is in a three-year battle with lung cancer.  [Mom passed away May 2012, but I’m still learning]  I’m blessed to have supportive family and friends to assist me and my dad as we navigate this rough and rocky terrain.  Cancer, regardless of the type, has a way of not just physically invading the patient, but it also winds it way emotionally around the throats and hearts of the family members.  

I won’t always chat/blog/discuss cancer on this site, but I want to be a beacon of light to those who are also going through the same thing.  I believe we go through things (good and bad) in life because there’s something God wants us to learn or there’s a different direction He wants us to go.  In the meantime, I hope to also provide some witty commentary about life and the things that make me laugh.   There’s a lot of stuff to laugh about and I smile about 95% of the day.  Seriously.  I find humor in so many things.  My family and I have always been optimistic, thus the title of this blog.  Actually, it’s my mom who is ALWAYS optimistic and has always been the one who sees the glass half  full.  

Since I am currently living in Birmingham, I hope to also share some stories about my life as a Louisiana native living in ‘bama.  And, since I’m a sport nut, you will definitely see posts about my Dallas Cowboys, Southern University Jaguars, Grambling State Tigers and college athletics in general.  I chose a career in athletics so it’s pretty much who I am…which means I’ve seen it all.  Oh and there will be random talk about Mexican food, chocolate, good coffee, great concerts, new artists and house renovations.
